Description:
In this BlackBoard course, participants will learn an adapted form of motivational interviewing appropriate for engaging welfare clients. The training consists of six modules (1) Facilitating Change- From Welfare to Work (2) What is Motivational Interviewing (3) Motivational Interviewing Principles (4) Motivational Interviewing Traps (5) Interaction Techniques and (6) Counseling Strategies. Readings, interactive exercises, a threaded discussion board, and pre-and-post tests will all be included. Participants who complete all six modules will have an opportunity for personalized feedback on their skills.
